Welcome to the DIG PANICI team page!
Join The Voices! and team DIG PANICI to help raise funds and awareness for furthering the scientific research of brain tumors and cancer right here in Chicago.
My sister Lisa Panici was a student and a collegiate volleyball player at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She was diagnosed with a stage IV Glioblastoma in early January of 2011. She had most of the mass removed successfully, but there were some side effects from the surgery. Much of her left side muscle coordination was affected. Lisa, putting herself back into work mode, had to learn to crawl, walk, and even try to run. She was never defeated, and always inspiring those around her. She even want back to a local college for a semester, because she knew she could do it. Last September she had the opportunity to go surfing through the non for profit "First Descents" out in Santa Barbara. Not only did she ride a wave in, her contagious attitude brought out the fight in her fellow cancer fighters who didn't have the physical limitations she had.
We were fortunate to have Dr. Robert Aiken and NPR. Laura Zuckermann, along with the entire support system at RUSH University, throughout this entire experience. Leaving no stone unturned, they gave me and my family precious time with Lisa, and for that there is no price tag. The research and trials put on by RUSH University are life changing, and together we can raise awareness and funds to keep research in the great city of Chicago.
